NYSDOT Testing Laboratory Building, Albany County

The proposed project entails the construction of a four-story New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT) laboratory building to test aggregates, concrete, asphalt, geotextiles, coatings, bridge bearings, guide rail and other transportation construction materials. Laboratory testing supports municipal governments and other state agencies/authorities through their use of the Department’s specifications and approved list of materials, sources, and producers. The laboratory is also an accelerator for innovative materials and methods, including sustainable materials that reduce greenhouse gases. A portion of the building will include a traffic signal laboratory and general storage warehouse, a machine shop, and pull through garage space.
